Conned by amity
I saw a new post as I open my
home page
A photo of the man I‘ve loved in my
young age
Back then he was my good and close
friend
My hero, my savior whose there to
defend
His smile brings brightness in my
eyes
His broad shoulder, such masculine lines
He always looks so good with his skin
in tan
His tallness seems to be every girl’s
ideal man
With a deep voice, such music to my
ears
That brought this feeling I had for
years
I kept it hidden, afraid to lose you
in my life
Just then i realize I was trapped in
a perfect lie
Now as I look at you in that posted
picture
I could trace every happiness in your
feature
Seeing your face lighten up by that
bright smile
Seems to tear this heart, “dear why
oh why?”
My friend I thought to me you are so
true
It hurts to know that you can’t love
me too
But what hurts the most is to see you
so happy
Holding the hand of the man you love
so truly
I guess I need to face this truth I cannot out run
Sad to say, the man I love… is
in love with a man.

MARIA

By: Kaye V. Sevilla
Awakened by the sun’s
light
And the noise by the
side road
She’ll carry her
belongings
And she would run down
the street
You’ll see her knock on
your window
And plea for mercy or
food
Give her a cent or more
Maria overjoys
She puts on a garb, and
colored her cheeks
Untangled her hair and
reddened her lips.
She’ll walk pass some
alley
And later be picked
By some stranger to be
feed
With her body and flesh
And in the dark corner
of the room
Maria would weep.
Sweat in her crown
And a broom in her hand
With grimy dishes on
the sink
And dirty laundry in
the punnet
She would look at the
crib
And watch her baby
sleep
She would put up a
smile
Maria endures
She sat in that wooden chair
With her tied gray hair
In rhythm, rocking
herself
Waiting for her end
She would wonder about
her bygone
Pain, gay and restless
she feels
And everything turns
dark
Now, Maria could rest
